That is one of the first pages of "Exit here" by Jason Myres
I have defiantly been waiting for a  book like this for a while. It not only kept me coming back for more every single time I shut it, but it also made me think a lot. This is what would seem like a book that contains a lot of teen issues, and the whole romance story. But in so many ways, it's not that type of book at all.Yes, it does have both those things and more in the book; but this is a book about fear, and love, and loosing who you were from the start. But maybe that's a good thing, maybe becoming what you never were and never came off as is what Travis's life leads to, even at such a young age.
The reason why I started this post with that quote is because that may not make any sense when you start off the book. It is a bit of a cliche line, and it is what you would hear but it's completely correct too. This book is not a love story, and in some way it doesn't have a happy ending.
Besides that beginning this book starts off by Travis coming back from his mysterious trip to Hawaii and nobody knows why he is coming off to have "changed" so much. Only Travis knows what he thinks he wants and he's not even sure of what happened.
This book has so much to tell and I can't include it all in this post, but the one thing that stands out the most is lies, and confusion, and what he thought was his life.
In this book Travis has a reoccurring dream that every night he is to scared to dream about. Him at the edge of the diving board, the bloody girl telling him to go. And the whole book really leads to that. The way Autum died and how he tries to turn his life around again, even if it means loosing everything but what really happened.
Cliff, the creep of a friend who always needed Travis, Laura, the one person he thought he loved the whole time, Claire, his friend that turns out to be the one who has a bigger impact. His family, the rest of his friends. He looses it all, everything comes to a stop. Leading to the truth, which is what he was ok with.
